The theme was Nantucket, and the colors were sky blue and the tables were adorned with lavender hydrangeas. These designs just remind me of a summer day out on the cape! I also designed table numbers, which were reminiscent of vintage seaside postcards and kids place cards which were inspired by the Nantucket beach passes.

Most students hold an equipment donation drive, where they leave a box or barrel in the lobby of their temple or school and ask for donations of gently used or new baseball equipment.  If you are using baseball bats and gloves as part of your party decor, think of donating these items after the party to their organization. Or ask your guests to bring a gently used glove, bat, etc. to the party so they can take part in your mitzvah project as well.  The baseball equipment collected by Pitch In For Baseball is then distributed to young players who would love to play baseball but cannot afford to purchase the equipment on their own.  They have distributed equipment to young players as far away as Baghdad, Iraq and the Philippines, and as close as Philadelphia and Washington DC. What a way to "hit a home run" with your mitzvah project!

 

 

]]>Seed Packet Place Cardshttp://www.mitzvahlicious.com/blog/2010/3/2/seed-packet-place-cards.htmlLAURA2010-03-03T02:04:26ZDecor Placecards Themes bat mitzvah escort cards fairies plaacecards place cards seed packetsWith many of today's kids being very environmentally conscious, here's a new idea to turn your place cards into a eco-friendly gift!  For this fairy-themed party, we happened upon Burpee's Flower Fairies seed packets, which had gorgeous watercolor illustrations on the front of each packet.  We created a custom label to adhere the top of each seed packet for each guest (along with their corresponding table number). Then the seed packets were placed on floral picks and whimsically displayed in a tray of wheat grass which was trimmed with moss. Not only was this a wonderfully unique and beautiful way to direct the guests to their seat, but the place cards also doubled as an eco-friendly party favor! Hopefully, guests planted their flower seeds and will enjoy their blooms for many years to come!

Today, I am excited to bring you an interview with Laura Cohn and Debbie Mintzer from Party Perfect, based in Orlando, Florida. These ladies are pros at creating truly unforgettable Bar and Bat Mitzvahs. From pre-planning to reception, and everywhere in between, they've got it all covered and it's sure to be a wonderfully special event. They had lots to tell us about Mitzvah planning and how they go about making each party perfect!

Personalization: Do your clients often come to you with their own theme or ideas? What’s the most important element of the party to them- the food, the music, the venue?Most often, our clients do have an idea of their own theme, but sometimes they look to us for guidance on the best and most cost-effective ways to incorporate this theme into their event. Personalizing and branding the Bar/Bat Mitzvah is what we feel is our specialty. We create a party logo for our clients that we carry throughout the party: custom menus, DJ splash screens, place cards, favors, signage, and so many other details that make the party extra special and help convey the party theme.

 Invitations: How do you choose them and what are important things to remember about invites? We look for an invitation that is unique and represents the individual style, color, and thematic elements of the event. For Mitzvahs, this presents a challenge, because there are so many unique elements to a Mitzvah invitation (the religious service invitation, the party invitation, info for kids vs. adults, RSVP, etc).

Use pancakes for the “bun”. The brownie is the patty. Condiments for the burger include Pomegranate Jelly (no ketchup on these babies) and White Chocolate (subs for Mayo). But what’s a burger without fries? Shortbread cookies are the obvious stand-in for fries. Very, very modern twist on an age-old favorite!

The event took place in historic Casa Feliz in Winter Park, Florida. There was a vintage theme, incorporating hues of brown and lavender... Here are some photos of the display. Many thanks to Root Photography for providing us with the fantastic professional photos! As always, we created custom labels and wrapped a grosgrain ribbon around each glass jar. We made up a lovely vintage "Love Is Sweet" sign, which the bride and groom say they will hang in their home as a memento of their wedding day. We also made altered "Good N Plenty" boxes, by putting the bride and groom's names on the front of the box (with the font and style to match the Good N Plenty logo).

Or just want a unique dessert? Bring s'mores indoors and serve them as a tasty gooey treat! You can either have a manned s'mores station as shown below... At one of our events, we had the chef toast the marshmallows with a kitchen blowtorch and then roll the hot marshmallow in chocolate shavings and graham cracker crumbs. Yum!

Or you can simply make these VERY easy s'mores pops as shown by Ali at Gimme Some Oven. She pushed lollipop sticks in the marshmallows, then dipped them in melted chocolate and rolled them in graham cracker crumbs.

These fun desserts will certainly have kids and adults screaming for s'more!
