This young man was a huge fan of current video games, but also appreciated the classic retro games, his fave being pac-man. We integrated the pac-man into many of the decor elements of the party, and he appeared on everything from the cake to the cocktail napkins! Add a huge candy buffet and lots of video games, and you have a really fun party! Check it out below.

This was an inexpensive project, and would be a great favor for any mitzvah as well. I purchased a small mason jar at Michaels (about $1.50 each). Filled with candy, and tied a grosgrain ribbon around the jar vertically (I secured it with a little clear tape). I tied a separate bow, and attached that to the vertical ribbon with a glue gun. Then I created a little logo based on the Reeses' logo for her, and printed it on glossy stickers for the front of the jar. I love how they turned out, and they will certainly look festive on the table!

In this setup, the lollipops are standing in a tray of grass, popping up like little flowers. I thought this would be a great display for the ever-popular candy-themed bar/bat mitzvahs!

Create the name labels (these could even be done in Microsoft Word). I've found that with labels like these, it's best to print on full letter sized 8.5" x 11" sticker sheets (found at office supply stores), and then cut to size. Adhere labels to the pops, arrange in the tray, and you have a fun and colorful place card display. I love when the place card establishes the theme and doubles as a little party favor as well!

We've been featured on Etsy!

Thanks so much to Etsy for allowing us to be a guest contributor to their blog! He loved all types of video games, from retro pong and pac-man all the way through to wii games. We had so much fun with his theme! Here's a glimpse of his candy buffet. We created his custom signage to look like a video game on a tv screen (Matthew's Candy Mania). We made a pacman graphic and had it imprinted on these oversized plastic stadium cups, which doubled as candy containers and a take-home favor. Each candy jar label was customized with the individual images from that candy's box, with the Candymania candy buffet logo along the bottom edge. Overall, an exciting and fun effect for this festive candy buffet!

When she told us that her daughter loved daisies, we just ran with that idea! We created a fun whimisical logo, and used it to create t-shirt favors for each guest. Each t-shirt was rolled up and packaged like an old-fashioned piece of candy--everything needs to look "sweet" for this sweet 16! The placecards were created by hot gluing a silk daisy to the mini flower pot. The name tags leaves were created by printing the names on green paper, cutting out the names in leaf shapes, and gluing each leaf beneath each daisy. It was finished off with a yellow gingham bow around each pot. We had trays of wheat grass with daisies "growing" out of them as the centerpieces to each table. Daisy balls were hung from the ceiling for an extra touch. Old-fashioned lemonade was served in mason jars with a daisy-cut tin top. Fondue was served, along with a s'mores station for dessert. For entertainment, we rented a retro photobooth, and programmed the logo to appear on the bottom square of the photo strip to "brand" each one. Makes you want to be sixteen again!

Most students hold an equipment donation drive, where they leave a box or barrel in the lobby of their temple or school and ask for donations of gently used or new baseball equipment. If you are using baseball bats and gloves as part of your party decor, think of donating these items after the party to their organization. Or ask your guests to bring a gently used glove, bat, etc. to the party so they can take part in your mitzvah project as well. The baseball equipment collected by Pitch In For Baseball is then distributed to young players who would love to play baseball but cannot afford to purchase the equipment on their own. They have distributed equipment to young players as far away as Baghdad, Iraq and the Philippines, and as close as Philadelphia and Washington DC. What a way to "hit a home run" with your mitzvah project!
