Mitzvah Photos from California Photographer Peter Kappen

Photographer Peter Kappen submitted some great photos he took of a recent Bat Mitzvah. The decor was fun and girly (love the ostrich feather centerpieces!), with a great candy buffet! I especially loved the effect of the swirly lights on the dance floor shots. It really evokes the excitement and movement of the kids. Peter says he uses a "photo technique where I use a long shutter speed to give that swirly effect". Here's more of what he had to say:

"The bat mitzvah was for Juliet and was held in Somis, CA at her home. Her mom Myrna did all of the decorations and planning by herself. The event was super fun and beautiful. They had a candy bar, a station where people were making amazing custom airbrush shirts for anyone who wanted them, and a Dj who incorporated tons of glow in the dark fun. I shot all of the photos with my wife Emily (as I always do). It was the first mitzvah I have ever photographed. I usually shoot weddings but this was a really fun change of pace. I have already been booked for more mitzvahs and I look forward to shooting even more in the future!"
