Create a Font From Your Child's Handwriting!
Thursday, February 5, 2009 at 10:03AM I have just discovered a very useful website called yourfonts.com. If you have access to a scanner, you can create a typeface from your handwriting (or your child's handwriting) for free! And it takes only minutes! Here's how it works:
1. Download the template from their website
2. Fill in each box with the corresponding letter or symbol in your own handwriting
3. Scan it at 300 dpi in color mode
4. Upload the file back to their website, and it produces a custom typeface for you to install on a pc or a mac!
Here is an example that my 10-year-old daughter created:

Here's a placecard example with the same typeface:

The examples above were typed in Microsoft Word. There are so many possibilities for this! You can make placecards, favor tags, and (if you are okay with the etiquette) even thank you notes... What a cool way to give a personal touch to your printed items... Give it a try!
