Photo Stamps

Ordering custom photo stamps for your invitation can be a great way to make the envelope look extra special. Simply upload a photograph, choose the amount of postage, and the printed stamps will be mailed to you.  The cost? If you order between 2 and 9 sheets (20 stamps/sheet), it will cost approximately $17/sheet, which is about double normal first class postage. If you order 10 sheets or more, the price goes down. Here are some tips when ordering photo stamps:

  1. Make sure you choose a well exposed image. A photograph that is too dark will not print well on your stamp.
  2. If you are good with photoshop or another digital imaging software application, you can superimpose the child's name over the photograph, save that as a jpeg, and upload that image so that the bar/bat mitzvah boy/girl's name appears on the stamp.
  3. You don't need to use a photograph of the child... If your theme is basketball, upload a photo of a basketball. If you have a beach theme, upload a photo of a sandcastle... Or you can create an image that is just text that says "Sammy's Bar Mitzvah - 2-3-2008" and upload that. Be creative!
  4. There are often discount coupon codes (like free shipping) for stamps.com and zazzle.com. So before you order, google "photostamps coupon" or "zazzle photostamps coupon" to see what coupon codes are available.
  5. Most important: weigh your completed invitation at the post office to find out the correct postage! Stamps can be ordered in many denominations, so if your invitation is heavy, you may have choose a larger denomination to avoid having to put multiple stamps on your envelope.
  6. Photostamps can be used for RSVP cards as well. To save on postage, consider a RSVP postcard, which only requires $0.26 postage.
