HOW TO: Photo chocolate lollipops

Do you realize you can make your own custom photo lollipops for a fraction of what you can purchase them for online?  Here are the easy steps:

Materials: Confectionery chocolate wafers, squeeze bottles, lollipop molds, lollipop sticks, edible image sheet.
I purchased the edible image sheet from a local candy supply store (D & G Occasions). I emailed them the photograph sized to a 2 inch circle, which they then printed 12 to a sheet.  Or find the icing sheet online by searching for edible icing sheets. The amount of lollipops you will get depends on the size of your mold. I used 2.5 inch diameter lollipop molds, and we estimate we can make about 10 lollipops per pound of chocolate.

Melt the chocolate wafers. Microwave them in a bowl at 30 seconds at half power.  Then stir and microwave for 10 second increments until melted and smooth. Spoon into a squeeze bottle and squeeze chocolate into molds. Add lollipop sticks and gently rotate sticks until they are covered with chocolate. Tap the mold gently on a counter to release any air bubbles in the mold (you may see bubbles rising to the top of the chocolate). Refrigerate for 15 minutes. Unmold chocolate. Cut out circles from icing sheet by using scissors or a scrapbooking circle cutter (we used the circle cutter). Press the image onto the lollipop with gentle pressure. Slip into cellophane bags and tie with ribbon! You are done!
